The rebuild is well underway

Written by Warren Sare on 29 May 2011.

Keep an eye on our facebook page as we rebuild for the Tectaloy World Drift Challenge in August. The car has been fully stripped down following the 3-peat win, and when it comes back out will be a fair bit lighter in preperation for the expected high speeds of the Australian competition.

Huge thanks to all the boys who have been pitching in to help, and to all our sponsors who keep on supporting us

If you want to come over and support the team, then check out www.worldtimeattack.com.

The cup is coming home again!

Written by Warren Sare on 24 April 2011.

GAZ WHITER IS A 3 TIME CHAMPION!!!!, and not only that but its 3 titles in a row! Interestingly, what isn't mentioned a lot is that prior to being champion he’d also been 2nd in the title the 3 years prior to that. Could it be legit to call Gaz Whiter the most dominant force in NZ drifting of the decade? Can’t be far off surely, and if not he could certainly be called the most consistent.

What a battle this season, there was 50 points between Gaz and Curt Whittaker going into the round. Curt has been a massive force this season, and if the title was going to leave Dargaville, then it certainly would have gone to deserving home.  We’ll keep the blow by blow round report out of this and just say that Curt qualified 1st and Gaz 2nd, meaning that essentially it was going to come down to Curt needing to win the event, and Gaz had to finish within two places to hold the title. Fast forward to days end and both were in the top 4, which had the brains spinning to try and work out how the title would play out. As it happened, it didn’t matter with Fanga Dan Woolhouse  and Carl Ruiterman respectively taking both drivers out, however most people in attendence felt it was appropriate that Gaz and Curt finished the season with one last battle against each other for 3rd and 4th.

What a battle , what a season…..I’m going to finish this with an image and I think it sums it all up nicely.  We miss ya Vicki Whiter, and your boy did it for you :)

Gunfight at Hampton Corral

Written by Warren Sare on 19 April 2011.

After 5 rounds of insane action across New Zealand, the Rockstar Energy D1NZ national drifting championship comes to a conclusion with its final round this weekend at Hampton Downs  http://www.hamptondowns.com/ .  The team at D1NZ stepped up the game and sold tickets via 1-day to ensure a massive crowd for the show piece finale, and this seasons two standout drivers go in with just a handful of points between them…its a gunfight alright with an SR20DET sharp shooter vs a 2JZ cannon at Hampton Corral!!!
