New Zealand D1 Champion to take on Aussies under lights!

Written by Warren Sare on 31 March 2011.

We are proud to announce the reigning New Zealand D1 Champion, Gaz Whiter has confirmed entry into the Tectaloy International Drift Challenge.

Gaz Whiter has long been one of the fiercest competitors in the New Zealand D1 championship and is renowned for not only for his extremely aggressive driving style but also his uncanny ability to “hold onto it” at the absolute limit.
Gaz has won two consecutive NZ D1 championships, he also won the New Zealand drift nationals in 2010 and has the most event wins of any driver currently competing in D1 New Zealand.
The 600hp plus SR20 has long been in a state of refinement with his father Tony performing the build in his small workshop in rural New Zealand.

“ This is quite an amazing story” said Ian Baker Superlap CEO “ We were already discussing with Gaz the possibility of coming to Australia for this event when unbeknownst to me, they were already working on a deal with Tectaloy Performance Coolants, and when I saw the car in the new livery it was almost like it was meant to be, as Tectaloy is our naming rights sponsor! And one thing I know for sure after watching him compete in New Zealand, he sure knows how to put on a big show for the crowd!”

Gaz Whiter will only be making one appearance in Australia this year at the Tectaloy International Drift Challenge Eastern Creek August 5th and 6th and to hear this car coming into a corner at full song with the anti-lag banging away really is something else!
